Past tenses, the subjunctive, ser and estar, prepositions, pronouns, verb periphrases and an indicative review. A2 to B2, for groups of 2 to 6 people.
Food, literature, art, film and series, music, architecture, society, history and cartoons. A2 to B2, sessions of 2 or 3 hours.
A journey through regions and cities: Madrid, Andalusia, Galicia, Castile and León, Valencia and many more. A2/B1, 3-hour sessions for groups of 3 to 12 people.
How the lessons work
One-to-one
Once or twice a week. We set each lesson at least 24 hours in advance.
In a group
Once or twice a week, on a fixed day and at a fixed time.
Intensive
Monday to Friday, at the weekend or over several Saturdays in a row.
At my home or online
At my home in Brussels, or on Zoom from any country.

After every lesson I email you a full summary of what we covered, so you can review it whenever you like.
Core courses
You progress at your own pace and we focus where you need it: grammar, conversation, Spanish for work or for travel. We work on all four skills: speaking, writing, listening and reading.
Advanced polishing
To broaden your vocabulary, correct mistakes and refine what you already know until you master the language.
What we learn with
A textbook if you want one, material I prepare myself, newspapers, podcasts, songs, videos, short films and games.
Hi, I’m María Elena
I’m María Elena Fernández García, a Spaniard “from many places”: I was born in Madrid, spent a year in the United States, lived in Hamburg for 31 years and now live in Brussels.
I hold a degree in languages. Besides Spanish, my mother tongue, I speak German almost as a second mother tongue and hold qualifications in English, French and Dutch.
I teach every level, from A1 to C2, as well as courses on grammar, culture, history and travel. Every lesson is prepared à la carte: around your level, what you need and the time you have.

Frequently asked questions
Where do the lessons take place?
At my home in Brussels. If you can’t travel, we do the lesson online on Zoom, wherever you are.
Which levels do you teach?
All of them, from A1 to C2: from your first words to the most advanced level.
How much does a lesson cost?
An hour of class costs €30 for children and €50 for adults. DELE and SIELE preparation, themed courses, company lessons and translations are quoted to fit what you need.
Is there a free trial lesson?
No, but if you’re unsure I offer a 10- or 15-minute introductory call on Zoom.
What if I need to cancel a lesson?
You can cancel free of charge up to 12 hours before. After that, the full lesson is charged. Lessons are paid for afterwards.
Do you prepare students for the DELE and SIELE exams?
Yes. We prepare the official exam together so you arrive knowing what will be asked of you.
Do you teach companies and institutions?
Yes. I have taught at the European institutions and prepare lessons for teams, adapted to the Spanish of their work.
